Gatland's men handed personalised match jerseys

They have worn the famous red jersey for six warmup matches, but this time it's different.

In Brisbane on Saturday Warren Gatland's chosen Lions will etch their names into rugby history as they take on Australia in the first match of the threeTest series.

And less than 24 hours before kickoff in the Suncorp Stadium those Lions were handed the shirts they will wear in battle against the gold and green of Australia.

Lions legend Sir Ian McGeechan was on hand to give out the red jerseys to the 15 starters and eight replacements who will represent the best of Britain and Ireland.

Each player has their name stitched into their shirt as well as the date of the Test and a number that recognises their place in history alongside the hundreds of men who have pulled on the jersey since the first tour in 1888.

Captain Sam Warburton, who led his teammates up to shake hands with McGeechan and pick up his shirt, is the 800th Lion so has that number stitched into his shirt.
